April 22 Post

Reflecting back, today was more of a haze than an actual memory. I finally was able to sleep in and enjoy the qualities of lazy days off. Waking up at noon, and as of now don't remember the activities I did. Looking at the clothes I'm wearing right now, I just realized that I had forgotten to change out of my pajamas. In description, I worked on homework and drivers' ed, working off the hours of the day.

Other than the such, waking up at noon was an unusual experience. Typically I don't sleep in, because I rather wake early and sleep early, although, I was such in dire need of sleep I slept through my natural "body alarm". Though, I enjoyed my sleep in 110%!

April 21 Post

At last! Spring break has arrived! Spring break of lazy days, and ice cream craze! I awoke giddily and hastily began prep for breakfast that I had planned to have with other people. Chopping and dicing at 8 in the morning, most would find this a monotonous tedious task. Although in retrospect, I enjoy work like such; work that can bring oneself away from the confines of the stress and worry of life and into a more focused yet relaxed trance of dicing evenly and mixing ingredients. Afterwards, guests arrived and I had a great time hosting and enjoying the first day of Spring Break.

After the guest left, I had to prepare and head to rehearsal for SJYS, and there I sleepily tried to focus on the music and notes at hand. However the days work and fun had left me tired and sloppy in my actions. After enduring 2 1/2 hours I came home and quickly went to bed. The beginning of break so far seems optimistic, and of course how can it not? A full week of break from school is hard earned!

Oddities of a Cactus

Ode to the Cactus

Spines of fortitude,
Of barren dusted golden grains
Disparity and hope, hiddenIn it’s hearth.
When conditions are ideal.
Ode to the Cactus
Though the consistent birds

Prickles upon green
Statures, unknown and mysterious
Risen from the depths

As fortresses of castle walls
Spines laden in your heart,
Unknown and forbidden

Though through the course outerior
Lies one of succulent dreams
Dreams that flourish

Those tricky
Clever can release the staple
Daringly necessary for survival

Is one of much confusion
To figure the jigsaw of thorns,
Layers of hardened emerald

And mice,
Thieve the Cactus of it’s secret;
Golden succulent life.

Spring Fades Free Verse

She does not believe!
Who robbed her, she in the blossom frills?
The vindictive?
The vitriolic?

Though it is she,
Herself,
Who stole
Undermining the serene

No one could preclude,
As she frolicked away,
Into crimson cloven,
In that yellow gown of daffodils.

Let those of withering heat
Release it's unrelenting power,
Shrivel, Dry
Crack.

Special Ed!

I enjoyed tutoring today! The teacher, Mrs. Hines, I could tell really enjoyed her job as a teacher for these kids. Although this certainly tested her patience sometimes, she seemed completely dedicated to her job. From this, I felt the students in our class ultimately caught on to this trend, and tried they're best to fill in as a good tutor and helper. Overall it was enjoyable to experience this as a new opportunity to help the community and truly connect to the school through a very humble experience!

Persuasive Techniques in Advertisements

This advertisement shown, is for SBP bug repellent. It claims that SBP brand spray will affectively remove all insects. The audience here, is for obviously those who need to remove insects from their homes and such, and also possible to a younger to middle age audience, who find the picture humorous, and therefore purchase the product. Possibly, the ethos in the advertisement is the humor applied in the advertisement, builds a more lackadaisical appeal and trust to the audience. Logos here is the picture here of a frog, one who eats insects, who is ironically is looking for food through his sign "will work for food". It demonstrates the effectiveness of the product through implying what other species might do humorously, though not realistically. The kairos technique present in the add is the simplicity of the add to generate one's individual interpretation. Although one of the few phrases added, in the lower right hand corner, "No insects left", adds an urgent appeal through a simple sentence.
